Anatomy of a Dream

I had been at our present pastorate, Freedom’s Light Church of God, for a little over 4 months. I do not remember the exact date of the dream I experienced, from the Lord, of which I am about to expound, but I do know that it was in December of 2009 before Christmas. I remember vividly the time I awoke; 2:15am, and have and still do remember every aspect of the dream. Before I reveal the dream and what I experienced, let’s take a moment to see what science tells us through research and study of the act of dreaming, during what is known as REM or Delta Sleep. This state of sleep is achieved about 90 to 100 minutes after the onset of sleep. The night of the dream, I had been asleep for a little over an hour. This was no ordinary dream! What I mean by this is that I found myself immediately awake when it was over. There was no process of awakening. It was instantaneous. I was awake and completely alert, as though I had not even been to sleep. The first thing that stood out to me when I snapped alert, was the fact that I had NEVER felt so alive! The Bible declares, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams,” Acts 2:17. I do not believe that this segments the population in who will receive dreams and visions; based on age or gender, but rather all the saints, washed in the blood of the Lamb will at times experience such out-pouring, as they seek God. Over the next five years the Lord continued to deal with me concerning this dream and would show me things from the dream. Incredibly, all 6 different things to date, He would reveal, came while driving to church on Sunday mornings. The dream opens in a bank. I am sitting across a desk from someone whom I know to be a loan officer. No faces were ever seen. As I sat at the desk in the bank, a set of hands effortlessly pushed across the polished desk a set of loan papers. The papers had been directed to two individuals seated to my immediate right at the same desk. Their hands reached out to take up the paperwork in order to review and sign. At this moment, I spoke up and said, “The Holy Spirit says, ‘Don’t sign the paperwork,' He will take care of it.” The bank scene closes and another scene appears. Now I find myself getting out of a car and walking briskly, as is my custom, on a sidewalk approaching a building. As I placed my right hand on the door knob to open the door, my head turned to look back towards the car of which I had exited, and while looking back I raised my other hand to waive goodbye. At this moment, this instant of time, the rapture took place and I literally felt my body being snatched! Snatched up from the earth instantaneously! The joy that broke forth was indescribable and unbelievable; nothing that can compare in this life. Inside my very being, the ecstasy emanating from within caused me to shout in a joyful delight, “I told you, He was coming back!" As I was saying these words with great exuberance over and over again, I was rotating my arms like a conductor in front of his orchestra or a an Olympic swimmer doing the back stroke. It was not a condescending, “I told you," but instead a pouring forth from a new vitality and awareness. As I was going up, I could see others going as well all around me, but again no faces. I noticed the sky was huge and dark; almost black, much like a daytime sky right before a severe super cell thunderstorm. We were all headed towards an opening in this vast darkness, where I could perceive a resplendent light. Then I awoke, forever changed. The first of the six revelations given to me by the Lord was the way in which I was walking. The Spirit of the Lord said to me, “Notice how you were walking." I thought back to the dream in which I knew the Spirit was speaking and I remembered clearly walking in the dream, but I could not understand what exactly what it was about my walking that the Spirit was trying to make me understand. As I wrestled with this, the all familiar voice spoke in my spirit and said, “You still had quickness in your steps and you were not bent over or feeble. You were not impaired in any way.” In other words, what He was showing me was that I was not old when the rapture took place. When I had the dream, I was 47 years old. The Second aspect of the dream that was revealed to me one Sunday morning, once again driving to my church, was that I was still in the ministry. This truth He showed me, by taking me back to the bank, while sitting at the desk, as the loan papers were sliding effortlessly across the desk; a loan for the church I was pastoring, was about to be signed. Ironically the church denomination of which I am a part of; the Pastor does not sign for any loans for that congregation. If a loan is needed, it is done by the elders of the church. The Lord brought to my remembrance the two individuals sitting at the desk to my right and the words that I spoke, “Don’t sign the papers, for the Holy Spirit will take care of it." It was the two elders that were reaching for the loan papers to sign. So now I know that I am still young, not elderly and feeble, and I am still pastoring a church. On a beautiful drive to our small church in Ball Ground in the foot hills of the North Georgia Mountains, on another Sunday morning, the third revelation came forth as the Holy Spirit took me to the dream once again and pointed out the exuberant exclamations I was shouting. “I told you He was coming back!" I shouted over and over. A child waking up on Christmas morning to a living room full of gifts cannot in any way compare! The Spirit said, “The reason you were saying that over and over again is because in these last hours of these last days, you as a minister of the Gospel, will have to contend for this great doctrinal truth, the pre-millennial, pre-tribulation, rapture of the true church.” Those who are born again believers make up the Lord’s body. This Biblical doctrine is under attack from the Evangelical Church like never before. We as believers are literally and mystically, the Lord Jesus Christ's body. Romans 12:4-5, “For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members, one of another." Ephesians 5:30, “For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones."
