How We Got Here

I’m amazed at the stories I hear and how desperately low we as a society have fallen. Carl R. Truman says in his book Strange New World, “… Sexual desire has emerged in the last 100 years as a primary category for understanding our identity. In biblical times or in ancient Greece, sex was regarded as something that human beings did; today it is considered to be something vital to who human beings are. Hence, we now have the whole notion of sexual identity and the ever expanding letters that make up the LGBTQ+ alliance.”

I heard one young man tell of his desire for men beginning with his introduction to porn on his phone. At 19, moving to London, he began to live out who he thought he was. “Hooking up with strangers for sex, he drove with one to a Sodom and Gomorrah type parking lot, where homosexuals were living it up. They beat on the locked car he was in with a stranger, begging for access.

Freud and Reich played a huge role in where we are today. Godless men, NOT understanding God and sin. Trueman interprets Reichs writings and says this, “The point is clear: sexual codes must be shattered if human beings are to be truly free. Those things that inhibit the free sexual expression, even of young children, are oppressive and prevent individuals from truly being themselves.”

Well, here we are. Sex with thousands of strangers in parking lots. Shattered lives, broken families. Men dressing as women. Sissy men who couldn’t fight a war if their lives depended on it. Women leading the family.

Do you think sex as an identity has served anyone well?

2 Timothy 3:1–5: “But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self… lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God…”
